What are the Entry Requirements for The Big Band?

The main selection criterion for ‘The Big Band’ is the participant’s ability to create original and distinctive music.

To participate in ‘The Big Band’, bands must have:

• Between 2 and 10 band members with at least one lead singer
• Must submit 2 to 3 tunes:
  • The first tune has to be an original interpretation of a popular bollywood, folk or regional piece
  • The second tune has to be based on the band’s interpretation of A R Rahman’s especially composed melody for the show which will be available on 27th October 2008
  • Bands that submit one of their original compositions will have an advantage in the selection process

Short listed bands will be invited to the first stage audition where they will be asked to perform one of any of the 2 to 3 pieces that the judges ask them to play.

How Do I Get Started?

To participate all bands must submit the following items:

• CD with their 3 tunes (.wav and .mp3 files only)
• Passport photos of all band members
• Completed “Terms and Conditions” document (each band signs one form representing their participation)
• Completed “Entry Form” document (each band signs one form representing their participation)
